Née et élevée en Islande, Klara Gunnlaugsdottir vit en France depuis 26 ans. Avant de se consacrer entièrement à la peinture, elle a étudié les sciences politiques en Islande et en Allemagne, puis a travaillé plusieurs années à Reykjavik. Fin 2000, elle s’est installée en France sans parler un mot de français, elle apprend la langue tout en construisant une nouvelle vie auprès de son mari français et de leurs trois enfants. La peinture, d’abord simple loisir, devient progressivement une évidence. En 2010, elle crée officiellement son activité et fait le choix d’une carrière indépendante, guidée par un besoin de liberté: celle de créer sans contrainte, à son propre rythme. La singularité de peintures de Klara réside dans un style abstrait contemporain inspiré par la nature, et plus particulièrement par les paysages de son Islande natale. En effet l’artiste peintre a grandi dans une petite ville proche de la capital, entourée de champs de lave d’un côté et de l’océan Atlantique de l’autre.
Au cours de ses 16 années de carrière en tant qu’artiste peintre professionnelle, Klara Gunnlaugsdottir a réalisé 12 expositions individuelles et participé à diverses foires d’art internationales et expositions collectives en France, en Islande, en Angleterre, en Allemagne, en Espagne et en Italie. Elle est une artiste expérimentée bénéficiant d’une exposition internationale et ses œuvres font partie de collections privées dans le monde entier.
Démarche artistique
Klara Gunnlaugsdottir suggère et nous fait découvrir l’invisible au gré de ses peintures, laissant libre cours à l’interprétation de chacun. « Je peins tout simplement parce que cela me fait du bien et me donne beaucoup d’épanouissement, c’est ma façon de m’exprimer et de communiquer avec le monde. Je considère chacune de mes œuvres comme un terrain d’exploration et de partage. J’espère transmettre à travers mes peintures l’énergie, le bien-être et la guérison qui émanent de la nature qui nous entoure. C’est pourquoi c’est un immense plaisir pour moi de partager mon travail et ma passion avec les autres. »

Icelandic abstract painter based in France, creating Nature Inspired Art that evokes emotion and energy.
Born and raised in Iceland, Klara Gunnlaugsdottir has lived in Brittany, France for the last 26 years. Before dedicating herself fully to painting, she studied Political Science in Iceland and Germany and then worked several years in Reykjavik. End of 2000 she moved to France without speaking the language, gradually building a new life alongside her French husband and raising their three children. Painting, initially a hobby, slowly became her vocation. In 2010, she officially launched her artistic career, driven by a desire for independence and the freedom to create on her own terms. The singularity of Klara’s painting is based on a contemporary abstract style inspired by nature, in particular the landscapes of her native Iceland. Indeed, the painter grew up in a small town near the capital, surrounded by solid lava fields on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other.
During her 16 years career as professional visual artist, Klara Gunnlaugsdottir has had 12 solo exhibitions and participated in various international art fairs and group exhibitions in France, Iceland, England, Germany, Spain and Italy. She is an experienced artist with international exposure and her works are held in private collections worldwide.
Artistic Process
Klara Gunnlaugsdottir suggests and reveals the invisible in her paintings, always giving free rein to individual interpretation. Her abstract works are characterized by textures and reliefs, fluid and colorful gestures within compositions that reflect nature, especially the beautiful landscape of her native Iceland. Klara conveys the positive elements found in nature and emphasizes the movement, energy and contradictions of natural elements.

« I paint simply because it makes me feel good and gives me fulfillment, it is my way to express myself and communicate with the world. I consider each of my artwork as a field of exploration and sharing. I hope to convey through my paintings the energy, wellness and healing that emerges from nature all around us. That’s why it is a great pleasure for me to share my work and passion with others. »
